Pikachu is essentially the poster child for Pokemon. Which means he will be a very popular Pokemon to catch in Pokemon Go.
But do you know how do you do it? If not then we have something very important for you!
Well, there are thankfully a couple of ways. You can, of course, toil away, wandering around the real world until you find one. Or you can simply catch him as a starter. We’ve laid out the both the steps for catching him as a starter or by finding him in Pokemon Go in this guide. Pokemon Go Guide: How to get Pikachu As your Starter

Choosing your starter is one of the most important parts of any Pokemon game and the same goes with Pokemon Go. Pokemon Go mirrors the real anime series experience by having the original three starter Pokemon appear as soon as you start the game. This lets you catch your starter, while learning the mechanics of the game. But Pokemon Go has a surprise for fans of the series. Guess What!
There is a secret fourth starter, the fan-favorite Pikachu.
Hopefully you haven’t gotten too far into the game, cause we’re gonna tell you how to catch Pikachu as a starter in  Pokemon Go.

The secret is to mirror events from the anime series. You want to walk away from the three starters that are offered to you as shown in the anime series.
When you load up Pokemon Go it will have Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle surrounding you. If you want to catch Pikachu instead you need to physically move away from them.





Drive if you have to, but you really just need to move about 20-30 feet or so. Once you move out of range of them your phone will vibrate and the three starters will appear around you again. Now at this point you need to check to see if Pikachu has appeared. It seems a little bit random, but for most players you need to walk away a few times may be 4.

Just keep walking away from the starter Pokemon, checking your Pokemon Go screen any time they re-appear around you. After just a few of these Pikachu should appear among them. You then just have to catch him as normal Pokemon by tossing a Pokeball at him.

Of course, this only helps if you are at the very beginning of the game. If you have already chosen your starter then we have another work around for this.

Pokemon Go Guide: Where to Find Pikachu

Unfortunately there is no single answer to this question of where to find Pikachu in Pokemon Go. Pokemon spawn pretty randomly throughout the world. Now let's focus on Where to Find Pikachu in Pokemon Go.
Pikachu is actually not too rare, at least in comparison to many Pokemon in Pokemon Go. He is electric type, so using that we can figure out a few spots to look. Try finding places around your current location that center around electricity. Science museums or actual power plants (though please avoid actually getting too close to the power plant, just try to stay somewhere near it).





If you’re close Pikachu should appear in your nearby list, which is on the bottom right. Once he appears there check to see how many steps are underneath him, indicating how far away he is from your current location. You can then tap him to enable a semi-tracker. Walking around you should be able to figure out which way you need to walk to head in Pikachu’s direction. And if you find him then normally through your Pocketball and Hurrah! You got Pikachu!

Unfortunately with a game like Pokemon Go that’s all I can offer in terms of help. The by far easiest way to catch Pikachu is as a starter, so if you haven't started your game yet then you can find Pikachu as a starter Pokemon very easily.
